Steve Jobs had dreams about building an iCar
Interesting factoids and stories about late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs have been constantly surfacing since his death in October of last year. Biographer Walter Isaacson revealed that Jobs had “finally cracked” a standalone Apple TV set, and many “lost” interviews and anecdotes with Jobs have made headlines over the last several months.
One of Jobs’ more interesting closet skeletons is the fact that he dreamed of designing an iCar before he died.
J. Crew CEO and Apple board member Mickey Drexler recently revealed in an interview with Fast Company that Jobs had the dream to create an Apple-branded automobile.
“Look at the car industry; it’s a tragedy in America. Who is designing the cars?” Drexler said. “Steve’s dream before he died was to design an iCar.” Drexler also said that, ”it would’ve been probably 50% of the market. He [Jobs] never did design it.”
“You know, Apple has 10 products,” Drexler said. “The living room they’re dealing with at some point in the near future.” Cult of Mac exclusively reported details on the forthcoming Apple HDTV last week.
